Wait a minute, pal! Do you know any entity, except humans, that is able to UNDERSTAND? Do you consider databases as understanding? or expert systems? Let's get serious, mate! Until there a algorhythmable model of human intelligence will be created, forget understanding cybernetic mechanisms!

What purpose, if any will we serve?

When this event of AI surpassing human cognizance occurs, will we have any purpose to exist? It seems possible that super intelligence would first secure its safety by duplicating itself many times over in multiple clandestine manners ... commit itself to ever faster evolution then render homo-sapiens powerless. Not to destroy us...to allow a percentage of us to exist as maintenance of the race. Gerbils kept ...because we can be kept. But we are messy, destructive creatures and to allow us to go on without safegaurds...keeping us from destroying everything with uninhibited experimentation and exploration would be the height of wrong decisionmaking.
People have posited that other intelligences are amng us ...tamping down our explosiveness at key moments. Are these events happening and formented by AI via alien nannies that put-out-the-matches when we are about to burn-it-all-down?
